Talking to my tutor today, he basically said that the yoyo is a very standard interaction. That you know exactly what to do, how to do it, and what will happen when you play with a yoyo. So I have done some research into different interactive spinning toys.
Whilst doing this I came across a shoddy homemade video on youtube demonstrating what was basically a yoyo, but with two, long loops of string coming out of each side. This toy was used by rotating the wrists which caused the thing to spin and go around in circles. When the strings eventually twisted up, you could then pull to make the thing rotate in the centre in the other direction. And of course, you could also orbit your hands as you spin the toy so the it goes around in heaps of different directions.
I have no idea where I found this video now... I swear it was titled something like "chinese yoyo" but youtubing that gives you something else (but also cool). I can't find it anywhere...
I know that ya'll probably have no idea what I'm on about... But I have a storyboard to hand in soon, so you'll see my drawings of it then.
