Soundtrack
I just found a brilliant song to use for my stop motion. It's whimsical and beautiful, which is exactly what I want my drawn imagination world to be like.
I'll need to edit it down to 40 seconds (cut out the voice-over) and I think I'll put the tempo up a bit as well... All pretty easy to do on audacity really.

Group Project Part 2
The target audience for "Target Cleaning" is middle-aged people who feel the need to clean constantly. The idea our group decided on for this project was “over-the-top and comical”, an idea which we showed by developing from our previous poster in which we portrayed a spray bottle as if it was a gun. Our video for this advertisement shows a character finding a stain on a table and then calling up “Target Cleaning”, but instead of shooting the stain off, it magically disappears in a flash of sparkles. The other main aspect for this commercial is comedy, which we portrayed both in the aforementioned sparkles and also in the juxtaposition of a woman’s screaming voice over when it is actually a man. We wanted our commercial to have these comical and over-the-top aspects as we felt that it creates a feeling of friendliness and familiarity, which is important when you need people to actually invite your company into their homes.

Practise Animation
This is a little video I made to test out my concept. I did 36 drawings of this "Water Dragon" (what do I call it?) and then scanned them and photoshopped them onto a picture of my desk.
Animation put together on Photoshop as well, might not be able to use that program for my final though

Stop Motion Animation Brainstorms
The first brainstorm here was done in groups. Four of us media design PEEPS got together to make this one, where we concentrated on the idea that media design allows one to create a whole new world (cue Aladdin duet) where you can change the rules such as biology and physics.

Stop Motion Inspiration
So, just found this... Think it's quite good...
The bit which most gets me is right at the end where there is the incorporation of the drawings (imagination) into the real world. I think it's really quite a cool idea, could be annoyingly difficult though.
Another part I liked was the interesting creatures at the start. It would be hard to make up unrealistic creatures (such as the flying/floating squid thing) and getting the movement to still look believable.

Curatorial
Coquille
des Lignes
Just as Wassily Kandinsky, the abstract
artist and one of the precedents for this piece, said in his book “Concerning the Spiritual in Art”, “mastery
over form is not [the artist’s] goal but rather the adapting of form to its
inner meaning”. The Coquille des Lignes does
not attempt to dominate the natural form of the shell through imitation, but
rather is developed from inspirational aspects of the form of the shell, such
as the whorl of the helix or the overlapping parallel layers.
Zaha Hadid, the famous architect and second
precedent for this piece, once said “there are 360 degrees, so why stick to
one?” This idea forms the basis for the Coquille
des Lignes in the straight lines protruding from the inner centre of the
piece, creating an angular piece which gives different impressions from every
position.
The Coquille
des Lignes is a piece designed to investigate the potential of the curve
when it is juxtaposed with a straight line. Its name derives from French with the meaning: “Shell of lines,” the reason for which is plain to
see as coming from the spiralling, cochleate pattern.
The union of both the straight line and the
curve creates a textural effect of which many parallels can be drawn to nature.
This ideal makes for an interesting sculpture which appeals to both the human
yearning for curves and also for order displayed in the Coquille des Lignes.

Final Animation (Stretched)
Exporting from Flash is just horrible. I tried it on multiple computers and they all gave me different results... Not very fun. So I'm uploading three of the versions I got.
If the markers could take the SWF. file as the main video file considered, that would be brilliant.
This first version became a bit stretched when it was exported and also I'm pretty sure the audio went a tiny bit out (but that might just be me...). But it's deefinitely the best version.

Final Animation (Wrong Font, Bitsy)
This is the version which came out the right size, but the font was curiously unavailable (we both downloaded the same thing) and the letters are bitsy and follow the wrong paths at some points.

Final Animation (Tiny Version)
And this is the one which came out ridiculously tiny quality...

Test Animation
This is a test I made trying to figure out how to do the orbiting and where I experimented with fonts... The way that I did the motion in this version ended up being a horribly roundabout way of doing it. But hey... That's experimentation...

Amazing Animation
My DSDN171 tutor finds the most amazing videos! So amazing that I felt compeled to share them with the 0 people who actually read this blog.
They just strongly reinforce my desire to become an animator!
